Interesting. Any reason for them to do this? Or just trying to force people to use their own DNS or something?

It was done less than 2 weeks after Cloudflare released their public DNS - it was done on purpose. DNS logs are worth a fortune to AT&T and I’d wager that too many people were switching.

I doubt their ability to create and deploy a firmware in 11 days.

Indeed, but they didn’t do it in 11 days.

The public knew about it at a few weeks before it was deployed, large vendors and partners knew about it for months.
