Since the project split a while back, I can’t quite figure out which is the best or why. Perhaps the answer isn’t so absolute. I’m curious though if any of you have an opinion on the subject. Would love to hear your thoughts!
IMO, Nextcloud runs very well.

Nextcloud here. Have never had any issues or a reason to change.
I think I picked it initially because I heard that the main developer behind owncloud broke off and did his own thing (nextcloud).

NextCloud is far and beyond OwnCloud.
It’s like comparing Tomato to LEDE. Sure, it works, but it’s no-frills.

NextCloud here too. I stayed with OwnCloud for a bit post fork, but then jumped ship as the community effort and roadmap look better with NextCloud, the only thing I would say is NextCloud is moving away from just being a file and sync product.

NextCloud here as well. It seems community support and development effort has moved away from OwnCloud to NextCloud.

Using Nextcloud in production for several months now, Owncloud before that. We waited a few months after the fork, jumped ship when OC started showing signs of abandonware.
