Do you have the general hardware specs listed anywhere, specifically for the NY & NJ locations? I’m curious what CPUs you employ.

Cheers, thanks!

Probably dual E5’s all around on their nodes, then.

Correct, these are all on Dual E5-2670 hardware.

What is the cpu usage policy?

We don’t confine it to black and white rules.
Have reasonable expectations, and you should be fine.
Don’t expect to be able to peg the CPUs 24/7.
General rule of thumb is don’t affect service to other clients on the node.
If you think another client doing something would bother/affect your service, don’t do it to others then.
Sometimes we will migrate heavy usage clients to other node, to spread load out better, but someone running CPU crypto mining is gonna get themselves suspended.

I took this plan and there’s an addon for $5 that brings your thread count to 8, which is excellent value IMO.

I’ve been using it as my Plex server, and it’s been very smooth. I don’t transcode a lot, but when it happens (the wife’s friends mainly) the 8 threads smash it very quickly, without breaking a sweat. I should probably note that my 24 hour CPU usage average is around 10%

Very decent network, the CPU has all flags passed even vmx, fast IO, just an all round excellent deal

The location I use is LA, haven’t tried other locations (yet)

Superior potassium, strong on plow, very nice!

These are tempting… but I still haven’t forgave you for the migration fiasco.

Not yet.

No sale on the smaller VPSes?

Not currently. We are looking to fill up these nodes in larger mass chunks, and not run 2x as many O/S and lose a high % of payment to processing fees.

We may do something on a yearly deal soon for smaller spec VPS. Unsure yet the Black Friday plans…

They have resource pools (aff) which you could use to build smaller VPS. Or if VZ is your thing, they have a cheaper pool (aff) for them too.

This is a very good deal. Trying to resist upgrading to more resources…

I gave in…

Upgraded RAM from 8GB to 16GB
Upgraded Storage from 40GB to 80GB

Topped it all off by ordering another IP

Was actually going to Use for plex but the storage and bandwidth seem like might be an issue. You use another box for actual storage? Or just mount gdrive or similar to your plex server?

Support has been great!!

Yep, mounted google drive

2TB is plenty of bandwidth for me, the servers that fill my gdrive with content live elsewhere.

Anyway, upgrading is very easy

Do you use sshfs to mount the remote drive? Was thinking about mounting my 1tb hostsolutions storage to this for plex server, not sure about peering though.

I use rclone for the google drive, and sshfs to connect to my 2TB sys arm in canada. Works a treat.

Rclone also supports sshfs so I use rclone for both, just to keep things a bit neater.

Edit: I just did a ping to my cociu vz (not storage) and got 194ms, from my smarthost box in los angeles.
